Dear Chairs, dear all,
During this very productive IETF week we’ve had the opportunity to discuss the SID draft and its use on several occasions.
First, we’ve had a meeting with participants of the NETMOD WG (thanks to Andy), with a huge interest - 17 people. The topic was - binary Encoding for YANG, which boiled down to YANG-CBOR and SID.
After the rich discussions, we went to IANA to see some of the modifications that came up earlier and during this meeting. The main point is simplifying the SID allocation procedure and the naming. We now have blocks of MegaSIDs (1MegaSID = 1 000 000 SIDs) which are subdivided into smaller ranges of SIDs.
We’d like to request a slot of 5-10 min on today’s meeting to present these advancements and to see if the WG agrees on some of the proposed changes.
Michel and Alexander
